Learn about the filter system that we will be installing on your new pond
We Install The Aquascape Ecosystem Pond Filtration System
There are many different pond filter types to choose from, we have made the selection easy for you! We install the Aquascape ecosystem pond filters which includes a skimmer filter and a waterfall filter. We have been installing and servicing this type of filter system for over 20 years! It's a simple, low-maintenance complete filter system.
What is a skimmer filter?
A skimmer filter sits on the edge of your pond (left in upper picture) and it houses your pond pump and prefilter. Having skimmer filter is a advancement from just having your pump sitting on the bottom of the pond with all the tubing and pump exposed. A skimmer filter makes servicing the pump easy and it also collects large debris such as leaves from your pond as it 'skims' the surface. Contractor grade flex pvc pipe is connected to the pump and runs from the skimmer filter to the waterfall filter. The skimmer box is also the ideal location to install a overflow pipe from your pond to a low area in your landscape.
Inside the skimmer basket under the artificial rock lid there is a basket that collects large pond debris such as leaves. There is also a filter pad that collects dirt before it could clog the pump. The pump can be easily removed for inspection by loosening the check valve fitting that is inside the skimmer box (see picture below). Gone are the days of the pump sitting on the bottom of the pond and exposed pond tubing. The skimmer filter allows for easy access to your waterfall pump and provides a area for the water piping to exit the pond underground.

What is a Biofalls waterfall filter?
A waterfall filter is a located at the start of your stream and waterfalls. It contains the biological filter for your pond. Inside there are three to four filter pads and bio media.
This filter only gets serviced 3-4 times a year! Simply turn off the pump and remove the filter pads and spray them off.
Another great aspect of the biofalls filter is that it is a simple, straight-forward design. Anyone can service this type of koi pond filter, no tools are required to clean the filter. Simply turn off the waterfall pump and reach into the waterfall filter and pull out the filter material. Rinse off with hose water (pond water is better) then place the filter pads back into the filter. You can also schedule Paradise Ponds to do seasonal maintenance on your pond.

The waterfall biofalls filter is completely hidden into the new pond area. Every fish pond that we install uses this waterfall filter. The top of the waterfall filter is hidden with rocks, plants and driftwood, it will completely blend into the pond and surrounding landscape. Check out the images below of a Aquascape Biofalls waterfall after Paradise Ponds and Waterfalls installed it.
