Koi Pond Leak Detection Services

Picture
Skimmer Reseal - A common leak area if you have a skimmer filter that has been installed for more than 15 years.

Our skimmer reseal service solves your pond leak in an area that you may not have expected. A leaking skimmer box is a very common problem especially with Aquascape skimmer filters, see pictures below. Your pond liner is attached to the skimmer box, over time the bolts holding everything together rust away and the water tight connection fails. In some cases, plant roots will find this opening and water source and grow making the problem even worse.

If you have followed our leak guide instructions and your water level in the pond stops dropping at the bottom of the square skimmer opening where the water enters the skimmer basket, this is the problem area. You will not find any wet areas around your pond when the leak is coming from the skimmer box area.

This is a job that should only be done be a Aquascape certified pond contractor, a certification from the manufacturer of the skimmer box. The job includes removing the rusted original zinc aluminum alloy screws and replacing them with stainless steel screws. Removing old silicone, properly cleaning and prep of pond liner area for a new silicone seal. If this is service is not done correctly, additional holes in the liner could be created.

This is a picture of a Aquascape skimmer filter box. This is the area where your pump is located inside on the bottom. This pond skimmer model was installed prior to 2007. It will need to have the seal redone if it has been in the ground for more than 15 years.

They typically have a rectangle fake rock cover, but may also have a black plastic cover. Inside the skimmer box is a black mesh net held in place by two metal bars and a cream colored filter pad. The pump then sits on the very bottom of this box.
